Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
At Brunswick Park, we believe learning a foreign language supports academic achievement, cultural awareness, and global citizenship. From Year 3 to Year 6, children are taught Spanish through the Oak National Academy’s Key Stage 2 curriculum—a carefully sequenced programme designed to build vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation over time. Lessons are knowledge-rich, accessible for all learners, and taught weekly by our class teachers.
Pupils develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through interactive resources, phonics practice, and engaging themes such as food, family, town life and leisure. Cultural understanding is embedded through exposure to Spanish-speaking communities around the world. This curriculum helps children grow in confidence, curiosity, and appreciation of language and culture, preparing them to be thoughtful members of a global society.
