INSPIRING CHILDREN TO BE ACTIVE: Frederick Afrifa
Yesterday, sprinter Fred Afrifa visited us, with Anna from Sports for Schools, to take us through our paces doing circuits. We all enjoyed our visit from athlete Fred (Frederick Afrifa).
He is an International Sprinter and a two-time national gold medallist.
He grew up nearby in Lambeth, and was London Schools Champion in 2011, World Youth Relay Champion in 2013, Surrey County Champion 2015 and National Champion 2018. His dream is to one day represent his country at the Olympics.
He shared times of success and of when events didn’t go to plan, including his time on Ninja Warrior when he fell into the pool! (Footage available on YouTube.) He wants to practise harder, go back and do better. Fred explained the importance of having a dream, and no matter what happens it is vital you ‘keep moving forwards. We all achieve at different rates, and as long as we keep going – moving forward – we will get there. His motto can be used for all our learning, not just for sports.
Keep Moving Forward
