Preventing Radicalisation
Years 5 and 6 were lucky enough to take part in ‘Just Enough UK’s’ information packed workshop on preventing radicalisation. Unsurprisingly, our oldest pupils handled this complex issue very well.
Through drama, discussion and questioning, they were able to build on the skills and British Values we foster at Brunswick Park as well as developing strategies for creating social cohesion between people of all backgrounds. The children all had amazing ideas about the universal teachings of all religions; respect, kindness, love and peace, as well as the influential impacts of how social media can be used for both good and bad.
They looked at figures throughout history such as Martin Luther King, Malala Yousafzai, Rosa Parks, and Mahatma Gandhi who all used their ‘Voice’ against violence and not only communicated their message to the world peacefully but in doing so, changed it! Most importantly,
our pupils have been given the tools to ensure that they can remain safe and use their VOICE in our ever-changing world – and they had fun doing it!
