Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our work to improve communication between school and home about your children’s progress and attainment, we have revised our reporting arrangements. Until now, you have received two short reports per academic year which focus on the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. It is a statutory requirement that progress in all subjects is reported specifically, and our new reporting arrangements comply with this. The new report also includes more detail and more information for you about your child.
We will continue to have 3 Parents’ Evenings per academic year; 1 per term (October/November, February and June/July). At the Autumn Term Parents’ Evening, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to check how well your child has settled into his/her new Year Group and Class, to look at your child’s work, discuss your child’s progress and revisit your child’s targets set at the end of the previous academic year. At the Spring Term Parents’ Evening you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and attainment at the mid-point of the year, check his/her progress towards meeting targets and look at your child’s work. At the Summer Term Parents’ Evening you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s Annual Report (sample attached) including the outcomes of End of Key Stage Assessments (SATs in Years 2 and 6) and the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, if they apply, discuss the year’s targets and new targets set for the following year and to look at your child’s work. Your child is welcome to accompany you at every Parents’ Evening, as it is important for children to be included in discussions about their progress, attainment and attitudes to learning at school and to know they and their opinions are valued and respected as part of the learning process.
These new arrangements are designed to benefit your children. If you have any questions about them, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mr Mitchell via the School Office, and all the staff look forward to welcoming you at the Spring Term Parents’ Evenings on 27 and 28 March.
