Telling the School about children’s Positive Test Results over the Festive Holiday
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may well know, schools are part of the National Track, Trace and Isolate Network, and are obliged to work with Public Health England to ensure those who have been in close contact with a person who receives a positive test result for COVID-19 are informed and asked to isolate for 14 days. COVID-19 is a notifiable disease. Close contact is defined as being up to 1 metre away for over 15 minutes from the person who has tested positive. If a child tests positive, both adults and other children could have had close contact, and it is only school staff that will know who those contacts will be.
Schools are required to report children’s positive test results to Public Health England for 6 days after term ends. So, if your child receives a positive test result for COVID-19 between Saturday 19 December up to and including Thursday 24 December, please send an email with your child’s name, class and date the positive test result was received to firstname.lastname@example.org
between 9.00am and 12 Noon. Please do not use the usual school email address as it will not be monitored, and you do not need to report positive test results to the school after 24 December. Thank you as always for your co-operation and support, and I wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday.
