Dear Parents and Carers,
Whilst standing at the gate in the mornings, parents have been telling me how enthusiastically their children have taken on the Book Bonanza Challenge, and how much more they are reading as a result. This is clearly great news! There is a reminder about it later in this Newsletter, and thank you for supporting your children with their daily reading.
Since October we have been re-examining the school’s values to find those that resonate most with the children with a view to making them more meaningful to them. As the children are members of the Brunswick Park Family – the children are aware of the term ‘Family Values’ – we have placed those values into 3 families in line with the school’s vision statement, ‘Learning for Living through Respect, Support and Challenge’. We propose that the values are grouped according to the themes of Respect, Support and Challenge, and that we focus upon one theme per term.
Our work so far is detailed below, and we will now survey the children to gather their views and opinions about how well they are helped at school to learn, to be a good friend and to understand what it means to be a good person. We will use these views to inform the next phase of our work on values, which includes re-evaluating the school’s logo and identity.
Finally, after her maternity leave, Mrs Edel Fallon returns to Brunswick Park on Monday 3 December. She has been much missed; please join me in welcoming her back.
With best wishes for a peaceful and enjoyable weekend,
