World Book Day 2021

February 25, 2021Tony CavalloBPPS Newsroom

A pandemic can’t stop us from celebrating books!

As always, we are very excited to let you know that World Book Day will take place on Thursday 4 March 2021! Things may feel a bit different this year, but everyone has worked hard to make sure children can still get their £1 book vouchers and have loads of bookbased fun on the day itself.

Dressing up will still be a part of the big day! As a school, and because in our Google Classrooms we can only see your fabulous faces, we would like your costume to be piece of headwear. Select what headgear you want to make from the online tutorials in the ‘Dressing up For World Book Day’ folder and decorate it to reflect your favourite book. Whether you choose a crown, hat, sunglasses or a facemask, we can’t wait to see you parading your book on your head!

The theme is: ‘Books you can’t get out of your head!’

A wealth of activities has been put together for all children to enjoy during the week and on the big day itself in the World Book Day folder in each classroom. As well as these bookbased tasks, you will have links to free audiobooks, live World Book Day story sharing events taking place on Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th and Friday 5th at 10:30 and of course, the allimportant virtual £1 book voucher for you to spend!

Finally, because we all love reading so much at Brunswick Park, a virtual library is being developed for each Year Group that will contain help to understand book bands, key words and sounds you need to know, picture books to share, banded books to read and extracts of longer books. The rollout of our virtual library will begin on World Book Day with the inspirational section, ‘Books to help you be YOU!’ which is a beautiful collection of books that help us understand our feelings and emotions and promote wellbeing. Look out for the phase libraries coming later this term.
