Throughout November, Ms Inniss-Griffith conducted a pupil survey with children from Years 1 – 6, asking them questions about their lessons, their friendships, and how safe and happy they feel in school.
We were confident that results would be positive, and the results confirmed for us that:
- 94% of the children surveyed feel happy and safe in school
- 87% of the children know which adults to go to if they need support
- 95% of the children enjoy their learning and activities, and get the right help to improve
- 93% of the children feel that the teachers are fair and have high expectations of the them throughout the day

We asked the children what were their favourite lessons/activities at school. The responses clearly show that friends are important to our children; they feel safe, they like the new Bistro and playtimes are fun. The lessons they like the most are mathematics, P.E and English.
The children were also asked what they would like to change about school. It was clear that they want more play equipment, they want to do more art and science and Year 6 classes want the option to go to lunch first. Where children have been identified as unkind, children want them to be kinder.
They were asked what makes a lesson good or interesting. Responses included watching video clips to support learning, asking tricky questions and getting answers, using colourful pictures to help explain things, doing interesting activities and helping each other.
Children told us that most of their friends behave well, but that there is still some work to do on helping all children to do their best at all times. This will be a focus on the work we do as a result of the survey, and will be measured again in our next one.
