Families currently entitled to Free School Meals received this letter about Supermarket Vouchers on 14 April 2020. Free School Meals in Southwark is confusing, as Southwark Council funds school meals for all its Nursery and Primary aged children as part of its strategy to promote healthy eating and combat childhood obesity.
This is separate from being entitled to Free School Meals because of having a low income, which is linked to a child’s entitlement to Pupil Premium Funding. This is additional Government funding for children who are at social and economic disadvantage because of low household income. At Brunswick Park, 50% of our children receive Pupil Premium Funding because either now or at some point in the last 6 years they were entitled to Free School Meals because their families’ income was below approximately £16000. If your circumstances have changed – your income reduced as a result of the Government’s Furlough Scheme or if you have lost your job – you may now be entitled to Free School Meals.
If you feel this may apply to you, you can use the Free School Meals Eligibility Checker on the this website under the Our Parents Tab or telephone the School Office and staff will help you with your claim. If you have any questions about Free School Meals, please telephone the School Office, or email on office@brunswickpark.southwark.sch.uk . We are happy to help.
